The Information Technology — Computer Programming track at GTCC is designed for students who wish to gain employment as a computer programmer, software developer, mobile application developer, or similar job title.

In this degree, you will learn how to code software applications for the PC, Web, and mobile devices using various programming languages. You will be exposed to current industry standard programming languages and techniques. In addition to programming applications, you will also learn database and web connectivity, along with security considerations. This course introduces basic heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration processes used in mechanical refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

Topics include terminology, safety, and identification and function of components; refrigeration cycle; and tools and instrumentation used in mechanical refrigeration systems.

This course will prepare individuals for the Universal Certification exam. Students have the opportunity to take the certification exam at the end of the course. The exam is administered by GTCC.

The schedule will be announced during class. The Human Services Technology program prepares students for entry-level positions in agencies which provide human services, social services, educational services, treatment services, and community services. The program is skills intensive so students are prepared to move immediately into the workforce.

There is an emphasis on ethics, integrity, and employability skills which are essential to success in the field. The program also prepares and guides students who are interested in furthering their education beyond the associate degree. Fieldwork and internships allow students to practice skills in a workplace setting prior to employment.

The program offers two degree concentrations Human Services: Substance Abuse Treatment and Generalist for students pursuing the associate degree as well as a Substance Abuse certificate for students who hold a bachelor's or master's degree in a human services or related field.

Human Resources Management will prepare you to support and manage the most important asset of every company: its employees. Course work includes studies in people skills, employment law, managing employees, recruiting and hiring, writing job descriptions, determining pay rates and bonus programs, designing benefits programs and training employees.

You will gain an understanding of how a business operates and how you will play a strategic role in those operations. Graduates of this program will have a sound business-education base for life-long learning.

You will be prepared for employment opportunities in management, recruitment, training, and other human resources development areas. Learn the science of making money in the hotel-restaurant industry with an Associate of Applied Science in Hospitality Management. If you want to own or manage a restaurant or hotel, this degree is for you, regardless of where you manage—in the front of the house or the back of the house.

If you are interested in decorating or improving the look of your home, we have the classes for you. The Health Information Technology curriculum provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to process, analyze, abstract, compile, maintain, manage, and report health information. Course work includes medical terminology, medical insurance and billing, electronic health records, Microsoft Office, anatomy and physiology, and extensive training in medical coding systems.

You will learn to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals through hands-on learning both in the classroom and through mandatory clinical rotations in real-world health care settings. Successful graduates qualify for positions related to coding, reimbursement, cost control, quality management, research, and system design.

Although most health information technicians work in hospitals, they also work in office-based physician practices, home health agencies, and other healthcare organizations that use patient data or health information. The GTCC Health and Physical Education classes align with general education elective courses and prepare you for transfer to undergraduate BS degree programs that emphasize career pathways in related areas of kinesiology, exercise science, sports medicine, health promotion and wellness.

These career pathways are becoming more and more crucial as preventative measures offered through these affiliated degrees intersect both the healthcare and medical communities.

Course topics include information on the application process, as well as licensing requirements, building and administrative codes, insurance requirements, employment laws, safety, and blueprint reading. Previous construction experience is beneficial. Furniture Upholstery covers the basic skills and fundamentals of upholstered furniture construction, including seat construction, inside upholstery and outside upholstery. Let your instructor know in advance if you need to make arrangements to complete an assessment somewhere other than GTCC. Once the student has completed the Request for Proctor Form, and submitted it to the Assessment Center, it will be forwarded on to their instructor and the instructor will then communicate their proctoring and testing instructions to the non-GTCC proctor.
